Did you know that the heavy truck industry is expected to grow from 204.56 billion to USD 313.95 billion over the next 5 years? There’s so much potential for heavy truck dealers to expand their business and reach their growth goals, but they’ll only be able to do it with the right help on their side.

Having the right tools is important for any business, but heavy truck dealerships that truly want to take their business to the next level should invest in expanding their tech stack. The right software can help your dealership experience true digital transformation. But, how do you know if you have the right software?

Maybe you’ve had the same ERP for years and don’t know what more modern systems have to offer. Or it’s possible that you have a lot of different tools and apps and want to consolidate to an all-in-one solution. Either way, there are some sure signs you can see that will tell you if it’s time to make a switch.

You’re juggling multiple tools

Take a moment to think about how many tools your employees need to do their job. A study done by the Harvard Business Review found that the average employee switched 350 times between 22 different applications and unique websites during their workdays.

All of that context switching isn’t good for productivity or employees. Constantly switching between different programs can take up plenty of time and mental space. Overtime, people may become more distracted and less able to concentrate on what really matters at work. Lessen your employee’s mental load and make work easier by keeping their most important work in one place.

e-Emphasys keeps your most important work all in one easy to access place. Employees can do their tasks in a simple secure environment and spend much less time context switching and more time focused on important tasks.

You’re struggling to make sense of data

You know how important data is for your business. Business owners and decision makers that have access to the right data can help businesses expand into new markets, improve overall customer service, help marketing efforts, and do a lot to positively affect company growth. Your current ERP and other software programs give you plenty of reports and sheets of data. Unfortunately, you aren’t exactly sure what to do with the information you have.

At e-Emphasys we understand that your expertise is in the heavy trucking industry, not in data analytics. That’s why our business intelligence integration is designed to not just give you data, but also help you make sense of it.

Emphasys’ Microsoft BI integration is unrivaled. If you’re a visual learner, you can choose to have your data exported in the form of charts, graphs, maps, or whatever way makes the most sense to you. Our BI’s advanced automation can quickly analyze your data to find patterns and outliers to give you unique insight into your business. Whether you’re interested in exploratory, descriptive, statistical, or predictive data, our BI can give you the information you need.

Your current tech feels outdated

You’ve had the same ERP/DMS for nearly as long as you’ve had your dealership. There’s something to be said about familiarity, but you can’t help but feel like you’re missing out on something. You’ve read about things like AI, AR, and BI in trade publications, but you don’t know how you’d incorporate them into your dealership.

We don’t want to see any dealership miss out on powerful new technology just because their current tech setup doesn’t allow them to take advantage of it. That’s why we make sure e-Emphasys clients have access to the latest technology right within our product.

We believe in the importance of investing in your own technology for success. That’s why we have over 300 developers who are constantly working to bring our clients the latest advancements in tech. Whether you’re looking for an AI solution to help your technicians diagnose and repair problems or better tech to help workers in the field, e-Emphasys has what you need.

You’re thinking more about security

It’s estimated that in 2024 cybercrime will cost more than $452 billion in the United States alone.  You may not think so, but the average heavy truck dealership has a wealth of information that entice cyber criminals. Think about how many credit card numbers, addresses, social security numbers, and trade secrets you have scattered across different computers and software. Now think about how damaging it could be to your reputation if there was a data breech.

At e-Emphasys, we understand how important data security is for heavy truck dealers. That’s why we built in so many different security features to keep your information safe. Between our custom solutions and additional security from our Microsoft integrations, we do everything we can to keep your most important data safe and accessible.

You want to effectively deal with business inefficiencies

Low productivity. Missed deadlines. Worker burnout. Poor training. All of these can cause problems for any heavy truck dealership, but figuring out how to fix them can be even more difficult. Instead of bringing in an outside consultant to figure out how to deal with business inefficiencies, consider using your own data and software to help improve your business.

We have worked alongside some of the industry’s best-run dealerships and have listened, learned, and incorporated their best practices directly into e-Emphasys to make that knowledge and those workflows available to you. Our business process modeling feature is a repository of best practices that’s designed to give you total operational visibility. Alongside having best practices encorporated into our software, we’re also designed to ensure compliance with ISO 9000, SOX, and other important regulations.

The #1 Choice For Heavy Truck Dealerships

Overall, every feature in the e-Emphasys ERP is built to help heavy truck dealers reach their growth goals and operate at maximum efficiency. From basic features like fleet management and finance to high tech solutions  like our advanced CRM and groundbreaking AI, e-Emphasys has everything you need to succeed.

Welcome Marc Tedeschi as e-Emphasys Vice President of Customer Success https://vitaledge.com/welcome-marc-tedeschi/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 21:55:00 +0000 http://vitaledge.com/?p=341 Marc Tedeschi, our new Vice President of Customer Success, clearly has a passion for people.

Care for People Is at the Core of His Character and Approach to His New Role

Marc Tedeschi, our new Vice President of Customer Success, clearly has a passion for people. An active volunteer for multiple child welfare organizations, he and his wife are also certified foster parents. Last year, they rehabilitated two foster children, ages two and four, through the Arms Wide Open program. Marc and his family also sponsored a child in Bolivia through the Save the Children Foundation.

He is also a volunteer youth sports coach, helping young athletes learn to work together as a team. Since 2006, he’s been a head coach for soccer and basketball and an assistant coach for baseball. And Marc and his family also work closely with local dog rescues, with an affinity for miniature Doberman pinchers and Beagles.

His empathy and genuine care for people (and pets) permeates his approach to leading Customer Success. Marc previously worked for e-Emphasys and returned last month, following successful tenures at other technology companies. Check out this Q&A to learn more about him and what excites him about his new role and customer success as a practice.

You previously worked for e-Emphasys; what made you come back?

[CEO] Jeff Hart explained his vision for the company and asked me to come back to be part of making it happen. Getting to know him and hearing his enthusiasm and plans for the organization, I was thrilled to accept the offer to become part of the executive team and focus on the Customer Success organization. Everyone is aligned and collaborating with a lot of transparency, so it’s an exciting opportunity.

What’s most important to customer success as a practice/program?

Being on the front line with customers, we must act as their quarterback. We should understand each customer’s goal and how to best help them reach it, making the journey as smooth as possible. We do this by using our domain knowledge, along with industry and technical expertise, to meet and exceed their expectations. The customer relationship should be viewed as a partnership because we work in tandem to meet their business objectives. We’re also here to make sure each customer has a positive experience and that we exceed their expectations in how we engage with them. Therefore, it’s important to ask each customer what success means and looks like for them. We then can track their journeys, which includes celebrating the successful milestones and being transparent in overcoming issues quickly.

What excites you about the new, post-merger e-Emphasys?

It’s an exciting opportunity for all of us and our customers. Our combined industry knowledge and hands-on experience in working with clients to really understand their challenges and address them with innovative software positions us as not just a market leader but a powerhouse. Our recent Sales meeting was confirmation and only amplified my enthusiasm because of such depth of expertise. We’re all talented individuals but find strength as a team, so this coupled with excellent domain knowledge is our big differentiator.

When it comes to leading the Customer Success Team, does anything keep you up at night?

I wouldn’t be able to do my job if I didn’t have a healthy paranoia. We have the best and biggest team in the market, but you can’t rest because technology moves fast. We have the right people across all areas of the company and a great leadership team that believes in collaboration and retaining talent. It’s important to always have an eye on the competition and regularly evaluate

What are some of the recent investments e-Emphasys has made in its Customer Success practice?

e-Emphasys has doubled down on its commitment to exceptional client experiences with organizational alignment around new people, processes and technologies. For example:

  • We’ve added new team members with decades of dealership and technology experience, bringing the global Customer Success team to nearly 20. Another 90 associates provide customer service and support from global support centers, with the primary one located in our Cary headquarters.
  • We’ve expanded dealer community groups with a tailored approach to OEM/equipment brand dealerships that promotes best practices and deeper product adoption and optimized use.
  • We deployed new software that provides an overall health score for each client, so team members have real-time insight into each engagement and receive actionable alerts to address needs quickly.
  • We also implemented a new CRM system for information about client satisfaction, product design, user experience and functionality improvements.

What would you like current or new customers to know about e-Emphasys?

Whenever we engage with a new or existing customer, we work to understand what each of their finish lines looks like and partner with them to get across smoothly. Each client’s goals and requirements are unique, so we want to meaningfully engage with you at every step, so we’re viewed as a trusted technology partner in realizing your key objectives.

It’s been a month since e-Emphasys Technologies announced its merger with CDK Global Heavy Equipment. While negotiating and planning started many months in advance of the announcement date, we’re now digging into all the details to align our global business functions.

Joining e-Emphasys in late 2022, I had an inkling of what was to come. Now eight months into my tenure as president and now CEO, I couldn’t be more excited to be on this journey with our associates, partners and clients as we build on the successful histories of our legacy organizations.

In addition to working on the merger and finalizing this milestone, we’ve also been:

  • Adding new members to the executive leadership team
  • Filling other important management positions
  • Implementing new systems and processes across the business
  • Evaluating our corporate name and branding

In many ways, we’re a “new company” and that’s exciting as we bring together the talent, technologies and partnerships of two industry-leading companies to become ONE Team. But rest assured that we remain dedicated to the heavy equipment and industrial machinery industry, including agriculture, construction, forestry, heavy truck, material handling, mining and sanitation.

Together, what we do is big and important: equipping the world to run every day – from building homes and critical infrastructure, to growing and harvesting food, to uncovering, moving and shipping various supplies we all rely on in our daily lives.

We help fulfill this purpose by offering two software suites, e-Emphasys ERP and IntelliDealer, to help dealerships and rental companies in the sectors mentioned above increase efficiency, customer satisfaction and profitability.

The commitment to innovation and client value that brought us to this point in our corporate evolution is paving the way for us to bring digital transformation and data intelligence to new clients around the world. The geographies and languages may be different, but the need for modern technology solutions and exceptional client service are the same – and there’s no doubt, we can help.

I’d like to highlight some of the significant investments we’re making in the new, combined business to fortify our ecosystem of dealers, rental companies and OEMs:

  • We will continue our monthly release schedule for both e-Emphasys ERP and IntelliDealer. Simultaneously, we’re carefully reviewing the product roadmap for each product line, so we can determine how to expedite critical change requests and plan for new features and functionality. We now have 280 developers passionate about and dedicated to R&D.
  • We’re adding an overlay reporting application to our CRM system that will give us new insights into client satisfaction, product design, user experience and functionality improvements.
  • We’re working with an outside consulting firm to assess our customer service organization, so we can develop a comprehensive strategy and roadmap to ensure exceptional experiences throughout the client lifecycle.
  • We’re in the final stages of implementing a new professional service and project management tool that will help us standardize and track project performance and delivery.
  • We just announced the executive chairman of our board of directors and members of our global leadership team. These are industry veterans and seasoned executives, many of whom have worked for CDK Global so they understand and appreciate the value IntelliDealer brings to clients and the industry.
  • We’re hosting our Evolve User Conference Sept. 11-14 in Nashville, Tennessee, for clients with the e-Emphasys dealer management platform and will soon announce the date and location for an IntelliDealer user conference in early 2024. In addition, we plan to host focus groups and explore establishing OEM councils that will help shape product innovation and platform delivery.
  • We’re on a fast track to introduce a new corporate brand and roll out a new website in the fall. Being a new company with more to offer our associates, clients and partners merits a name change and new branding to reflect who we are today and the promise of value we provide.

We’ll update you on each of these initiatives as they’re completed and/or instituted. Most important, we hope you’ll notice the changes and hear about the positive results.

You can always email us at info@e-emphasys.com with questions or suggestions. We especially welcome input on topics you’d like us to address in this blog.

The Power of Digitization for Equipment Dealers https://vitaledge.com/the-power-of-digitization-for-equipment-dealers/ Wed, 07 Dec 2022 21:58:00 +0000 http://vitaledge.com/?p=346 As the shopping preferences of consumers and businesses continue to evolve as we move forward in the post pandemic world, trends show that the need for digitization is at a peak for the equipment dealership industry.

As the shopping preferences of consumers and businesses continue to evolve as we move forward in the post pandemic world, trends show that the need for digitization is at a peak for the equipment dealership industry. In the end of 2021, AED and McKinsey conducted a survey of dealership executives from AED’s nearly 500 dealership groups regarding their insights into industry trends.

In the survey, respondents were asked what percentage of their new/used/rental equipment sales are conducted digitally today, as well as what they expected that percentage would be in five years. Currently, 14% of new sales, 25% of used sales, and 12% of rental sales are conducted digitally; those percentages are expected to be 38% of new sales, 48% of used, and 36% of rental sales in the next five years. Setting up an ecommerce site with features for the industry can be difficult and costly to implement on your own. e-Emphasys ePortal is specifically designed for dealerships. It doubles-up as a self-service portal for the dealership customers, and is an important source of information + knowledge, providing multi-channel, user-experience. ePortal enables dealerships to maintain comprehensive presence and gain competitive advantages as customer-focused organizations. ePortal is equipped with the tools you need for selling new, used, and rental equipment so you can rise to the challenge of these trends.

As dealership and B2B spending continues to move online, the access to customer data increases. It would be a missed opportunity to not fully optimize the information from this data. Our e-Emphasys CRM adds extensions specific to the equipment dealer industry to Microsoft Dynamics, ensuring that you have access to the right data to optimize customer upsells and manage your sales opportunities. Within the platform you can access Price Lists, Finance Options and Amortization Charts, along with Customer Credit information, split by line of business (sales, parts, service and rental), as well as edit the price within sales and rental quotes. The platform can also generate all-inclusive proposals for equipment, attachments, rental, warranty, service, and trade ins. Additionally, the platform gives insights into service and rental contracts, which can help your dealership compete, as many dealers are moving towards proactive service offerings. According to the survey from McKinsey, “sixty-four percent of dealers consider enabling [a better customer service] experience to be the top priority in the future of service. Dealers that utilize the digitization tools offered by e-Emphasys can meet this priority. With ePortal in the service portal, fleet managers and end users can schedule service. Dealerships can then schedule services and assign technicians through our eScheduler and eServiceTech applications which allow you to automate scheduling for technicians, and allow technicians to update customer work orders with pictures, notes, right from their mobile device, saving them the paperwork when they return to the office.

You need a business intelligence tool that can display the data in a readable manner. e-Emphasys Business Intelligence offers an integrated and fully scalable business analytics solution that supports the entire organization. It delivers in-depth reports, dashboards and analytics needed to improve decision-making, and the overall performance management of the business. John Kimball, CEO at Kimball Equipment says “I use the BI Dashboard from e-Emphasys everyday. It’s a refreshing change from the past where I would generally ask once or twice a month how things are going. One of the first things I do when I wake up in the morning is look at my phone and see what we billed the previous day.”

As you digest this information you may need a starting point for digitizing your dealership and rising to these trends. Our modern end-to-end dealership management platform along with our knowledgeable staff can help you. Schedule a demo today so we can discuss your specific needs.

Our team returned home from Evolve 2022 a few weeks ago with so much renewed and continued passion for our customers, product, and partners. We really enjoyed being with all of you in person in San Antonio, for our largest in person Evolve Conference ever! We are so thankful to all of you who stayed with us for our virtual Evolve Conferences in 2020 and 2021, but for us, nothing is better than face to face time with you, our customers. We had a sold out conference with 150 attendees representing our customers, e-Emphasys employees and partners. Thank you to Vertex and Corpay for sponsoring the event, and to all of our customers who attended.

We understand that it’s difficult to leave your desks and day-to-day responsibilities, so it was of utmost importance to us to provide you with a diverse program of topics covering our platform so you could find value to bring back to your dealerships and processes. Our sessions covered Rental, BI, eInspection, ePortal, Finance, eServiceTech, eScheduler, and more. Our Evolve Champion customer presenters, representing 7 different companies, shared their invaluable insights and experiences on the platform. We also had drop – in sessions with our product team to answer questions and get one-on-one feedback.

In the evenings, we explored San Antonio. It was a highlight for us to be able to host a dinner event at the historic Alamo, including an authentic firing demonstration, mariachi band, and live Spanish guitar music. The San Antonio Riverwalk was a fun place to gather in the evenings with friends across the industry.

Thank you again to all who attended Evolve 2022! We have been taking our survey responses into account and already making enhancements for next year. If you attended the conference and would like the link to the survey, please email Elizabeth Quinn at equinn@e-emphasys.com. We are planning to announce next year’s Evolve Conference to our customers in the next month! We are already looking forward to gathering together again in a new city!
